While Pauley Pavilion is best known for its iconic status in sports, its versatility extends beyond this to concerts and more. This venue has hosted countless memorable concerts throughout its history. Some big ones include the following:

• The Grateful Dead performed at Pauley Pavilion six times between 1971 and 1982, establishing it as a significant stop on the jam band circuit. 

• Frank Zappa performed with the Los Angeles Philharmonic at Pauley Pavilion. These same celebrated tracks would later inform the soundtrack for his film “200 Motels.” 

• The Who brought their powerful rock sound to the arena’s intimate setting.

Pauley Pavilion’s versatile arena floor can have reserved floor seating for assigned seats close to the stage or general admission areas that allow fans to arrive early and secure prime standing spots.

Sightlines for concerts generally rate as excellent from most seating locations, thanks to the arena’s bowl design. The lower bowl sections offer outstanding sightlines and acoustics without the premium price of floor seating. However, the upper-level seats feel surprisingly close to the action, too, although corner seats may have partially obstructed views.

Sound quality during concerts benefits from the venue’s natural acoustics and state-of-the-art audio equipment installed during the 2012 renovation. Artists performing at Pauley consistently praise the venue’s acoustic properties. For standing room events, arrive early to secure optimal positions, while reserved seating concerts are best enjoyed from lower bowl sections near center stage.
